420 is Cannabis culture, refers to consumption of cannabis. It is just a way to identify oneself with cannabis subculture. April 20 is the notable day of it. This term allegedly coined by a group of teenagers in San Rafael, California in 1971 who calling themselves the Waldos, because their chosen hang out spot was a wall outside the school.
The group first used the term in connection to a fall 1971 plan to search for abandoned cannabis crop that they had learned about. The Waldos for the first time made a meeting at Louis Pasteur statue of San Rafael High School at the time 4:20 pm. 420 is the time of their first meeting.
